What is CSIR NET Exam 2022

The CSIR NET Exam is a national level examination conducted by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India. The exam is held for determining the eligibility of Indian Nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the basic sciences.

Eligible candidates who wish to apply for the examination can do so by filling out an online application form available on the official website. The examination is usually held twice a year, in June and December.

Educational qualification for CSIR NET

Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in relevant subjects are eligible for this Test.

The relaxation of 5% will be allowed to those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/PWD categories and persons possessing Integral Master’s degree certificate or equivalent, from Indian Institute of Technologies and National Institutes of Technologies as specified by MHRD, Government of India.

Age limit of the exam

To apply for CSIR NET JRF, candidates should be maximum of 28 years of age. The upper age limit is relaxable for up to 5 years for SC/ST/Third gender/PwD/Females and up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)

There is no upper age limit to apply for the post of Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor
